Large wild mammals found here include the tiger, leopard, Indian gaur, sambar, nilgai, chital, wild boar, sloth bear, barking deer, mouse deer and wild dog. There is also an elephant named Rupa.[1] Nearly 30,000 tourists visit this sanctuary annually.

    Pick up from Nagpur railway station or airport, and then drive to Nagzira. Upon arrival, check into a wildlife resort. In the evening you are free to enjoy a nature walk in and around the resort, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

    Early in the morning a jeep will wait to take you on a safari into the Nagzira National Park. Being the home to various animals, Nagzira is the best destination to spot wildlife. Bask in the wilderness of the park and later return back to the resort for breakfast. Before lunch you are free to relax and post lunch you will have to get ready for the evening jeep safari into the park. While the sun descends down, the predators move out in search of their prey. Tigers are nocturnal animals; thus, are more active during the night. Therefore, the evening safari will give you more chances of sighting the striped cats. In addition to the big cats, you can also witness a variety of beautiful birds. Return to the resort before it gets too dark. On reaching the resort, relax and have a cup of tea, followed by dinner and an overnight stay. Cosseted within the picture perfect vista of the mountains, Nagzira is the best place for wildlife lovers. The Nagzira National Park is among the top reserves for sighting the big striped cats, the tigers. You can see these cats playing, jumping and even hunting in the park. Along with the tigers, the park also has various other animals and birds.

    Get up early in the morning for the second and last round of jeep safari (pick up from the resort). Yet again you can catch the sight of several wild beings like Bison, Sambar, Chital, Nilgai, so on and so forth. After the safari get back to the resort, have breakfast and pack your belongings for check out. Drive to Nagpur and then transfer to the airport, railway station or your hotel.

    Navegaon Tiger Reserve is well connected by road and can be reached by using any private or public transport bus or cab. Navegaon is the nearest bus stand which is 10 kms away from the park. The nearest bus-stand is also at Sakolii (22 kms) on Nagpur-Calcutta National highway. Other modes of transport are available from the district headquarters Gondia and tehsil headquarters of Arjuni. Tourists visiting Kanha national park, Pench tiger reserve or Tadoba national park may easily visit Nagzira as it is at manageable distance and well connected by road.

    Nearest airport for Nagzira is Nagpur airport, at a distance of 130kms. It is a large airport having very good flight connectivity from rest of India like Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc. Further journey from Nagpur to Nagzira is possible by tourist taxi cabs.

    Transportation By Train

    Nearest railway station for reaching Nagzira wildlife sanctuary is Gondia station, at a distance of 40kms. It is a medium size railway station having direct train connectivity from many big cities and tourist places. Second best option is Nagpur railway station at a distance of 120kms. Further journey is possible by tourist taxi cabs.

    Forest Rules

    Nagzira wildlife sanctuary is an upcoming wildlife destinations. Here leopard and sloth bear sighting is good. At the same time birding is also very good. All these factors will make it more popular and will attract more and more tourists. As if now, we have limited Nagzira hotel options.

    Here deluxe and luxury accommodation options are not available. In future, we may expect some more resorts and lodges in Nagzira wildlife sanctuary.

    Forest Features

    The Gond kings once ruled these forests in the vicinity of the Bhandara. In 1970, 116.54 km2 (45.00 sq mi) was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary. In 2012, state government announced to merge this sanctuary with another national park to include in Saving tiger project

    Sanctuary have different safari entrance gates like Pitezhari gate, Mangezhari gate, Chorakhmara gate 1, Chorakhmara gate 2, Umazari gate, Chandrapur gate etc. Resorts are located nearby few gates thus few gates like Pitezhari, Chorakhamara gates are more popular among tourists.
